I wonder if its practical to turn off the ref in the evening before u go to sleep and plug it once again in the morning. I tried it and the food stayed fresh and the icebox was still frozen. But will it save u money?

i hear the average fridge on uses like $0.35 a month so that would be incignificant to do that!
well technically it will save you something.. but not really enough to reallllly matter.. youre just risking quicker food spoilage..which in turn would end up in more money out of your pocket
No because you will have to overcome the heat rise in the fridge from being unplugged. The compressor will have to work double time to return the unit to its normal setpoint. Also you run the risk of causing your food to spoil sooner by exposing it to unecessary temperature changes.
If you want to save on electricity try installing compact flourescent lamps, tuning off lights when not in the room, using natural light during the day.
most refrigerators costs $16/yr in electricity. Is it worth it?
When you plug it back in, it will need to make up for any cold it lost overnight so it would need to run longer. I do not think it will save anything.
And what if you forget to plug it back in? Yuck. Definitely not worth it!
It sure is practical, don’t listen to the other folks they don’t know what their talking about. I’ve shut mine off every night for the last 2 years and I’ve saved about $84 a year, over 10 years that’s $840. It’s worth it to me, even leave it off for a couple of days at a time to save even more energy. I first pack it full of ice first that I’ve accumulated,
Another cost saving idea is to use candles instead of light bulbs. I haven’t used electrical lighting in about 3 years. Becareful though I did have one fire when the cat knocked over a candle and set the living room on fire a couple of months ago. Damn cat, I’m still make repairs and trying to get rid of the smell. As for the cat, she met with an unfortunate demise. Seems she didn’t do to well landing on her feet after being launched out the window 27 stories off the ground.
Well good luck with your cost saving endeavors.
That is dumb. I hope you are kidding.
but if you are serious, yes give it a try. There are other ways to save money around the house.
If its yellow let it mellow, if it brown flush it down
If you want to save money be energy efficient and that’s all you have to do.
try lowering your thermostat on the water heater at about 130o on bottom and 100o on top.
You will have less hot water to shower in, but you also save money.
The less kilowatss you use the better of you will be.
Here’s another tip.\
Did you know that when you buy light bulbs it’s not the watts your concerned about, but the lumens.
The lower number lumens on that bulb the more money you will save in power.
